I worked closely with Susan Duncan and DC Thomson's former CEO Ellis Watson to create a strong and dynamic brand for their mentoring charity, Breakthrough. Breakthrough provided a 1:1 mentoring service to young people in schools to help provide support and opportunities, particularly to those with a difficult home life.
Having had experience of similar services myself, it was an honour to work on the project and to create a brand that left a lasting impression.
The bold colours and simple patterns made for an easily recognisable and expandable branding. They wanted to give a bright and young look, without appearing too childlike to keep it appealing to the young teens the service provided for. Feedback from school students in the early stages was very positive towards the look of the brand. One teenager described it as 'cool', and that is the ultimate success in my eyes!
